Story
Its 2020 so, of course, that means a '20' challenge and that can only mean 20 marathons in 2020! Or '20 in 2020' to give it a catchy name!
I am doing this to raise funds for the school where I have worked for the last three years.
Tower Hill Primary School are raising money to improve the school grounds with a focus on developing the environmental area so that the pupils can participate more fully in outdoor learning as we know that this is a hugely beneficial to both their academic achievements and their well being.
We are hoping to improve the environmental area by installing an outdoor classroom, outdoor seating as well as buying equipment including a wildlife camera and bug hunting kits. We also want to provide training for our staff so that they are fully equipped to deliver this outdoor learning to the children.

4 years agoSo I had run two marathons in a weekend, what could I possibly do next? I know I'll run two marathons in one day so that's what I did yesterday (05/09). 52.4 miles in total up and down the Thames at Runnymede - very educational - the first was too fast so the second was unsurprisingly much slower! I am now at 10 for the year - halfway there and the rest are all booked and paid for!

4 years agoThen there was good news - official marathons were starting again in August - small, controlled, socially distanced ones but they were happening and they counted! So in August I ran 5 marathons - two weekends I ran one on both Saturday and Sunday - one weekend up and down the Basingstoke Canal on the hottest weekend and then the next weekend round and round a school field in Guildford! Then the next weekend I just did one - I know slacking!

4 years agoIt's now September so I thought the page was long overdue for an update! I started this challenge in January 2020 with the Gloucester Marathon - given it was January the weather wasn't too bad and I enjoyed this run - actually I enjoy most of them! I then moved on to the 100 Marathon Club AGM marathon in February - a gentle jaunt up and down the Thames and then on the 13th March I ran 105 laps of a running track for Marathon 3! That was hard. Then the lockdown happened and I thought my challenge was over before it had really got going....
