    Story

I was lucky enough to get the chance to swap places with a farmer from Malawi called George as part of the BBC 2 Life Swap Adventure series, He got to live with my family and I his to learn more about each others lives and cultures.

I spent 10 days living with Georges family as an subsistence farmer being guided by his son Samuel. The farm itself is spread over 4 acres and the ground is poor, there have been severe droughts and many people are suffering and struggling to make a living.

George is looking to make his life easier and encourage Samuel to stay on the farm. I am looking to assist him by raising funds for him to keep Bees, supplementing his income and possibly being an alternative to the farming he undertakes that is so reliant on the rains.

Even on a good year farming George rarely has a surplus to by other foods putting enough food on the table and for him to have to purchase seed and fertilizer to help with the poor soil.

George is a credit to his family and village and I have kept in contact with him since the show I am hoping that the kindness of you all will help me help him further. I am hoping to return soon to see how George and Samuel are getting on.

Hello all just wanted to thank you all once more as the crowd funding draws to a close. I have heard from George and things are moving on with him and his Bee ambitions ( bit to slowly for him lol) but he realises he has to learn. I wish i could thank you all in person and im hoping that those of you that see this page can thank those that may not be on Facebook. It has humbled me to see how generous you all are and i know its a cliche but it has given me more faith that there are enough good people to change the world for the better. xx

Here you have me waiting for my food, Georges wife cooked all my food alongside her daughter.... Sam would bring water to wash our hands and then we would eat. Ir was quite interesting as in England we chat and eat here everyone was quiet... I have been back 9 months now and can honestly say i miss the smells, sounds and people of the village i look forward to my return and i hope that i can show you what a difference you have all made. You never know we may get his honey on sale here if i can sort out the amounts. Have a great Sunday all xx
