Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Hi everyone, Kevin Rafferty St Luke’s Chairman here.

On the 1st August 2025 I will be starting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise much needed funds for our club. The climb will take 7 days to the summit (if I make it to the top) and then 2 days to descend back down.

I climbed Kilimanjaro 17 years ago to raise funds for an orphanage in Kenya. I was 55 then and got to the top ok, but I’m 72 now so a bit less confident.

The first time I did it with my son (also Kevin). This time I am mega excited to be doing the climb with my granddaughter Niamh, who is 28 and a good hiker. Niamh will be raising funds for a Masai charity which works to empower local women. This is a passion of hers but my lifelong passion is St Luke’s so when the opportunity arose….

You all know the work we do in the local community not just football but so much more. Our kids numbers are growing every year. You will also all know that we are forever asking for money, we have our local businesses tortured & can’t thank them enough.

I thought this would be a great way for our supporters & local community to sponsor St Luke’s. Lots & lots of smaller amounts giving our generous businesses a break.

St Luke’s will be setting up a gofundme page next week so look out for it and please help us to continue guiding our boys into responsible men.

I will be covering all of my own expenses, flights, insurance, accommodation etc. Every single penny raised will go straight to St Luke’s. We will be posting regular updates so keep an eye out - and please help St Luke’s in any way you can.
