Story

Colin recently underwent surgery for throat cancer but the surgeons were unable to remove all the tumor. He's now half-way through a 7 week program of treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he's a full-time patient. Colin had to give up his work managing and training horses. He's been wrestling with non-Hogdkins Lymphoma for a number of years but now has Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the throat and neck. So far he's been able to drive home at weekends to his home in Coventry, Connecticut. From now on he will become increasingly debilitated and the hospital recommends that he has a carer stay with him to make sure nothing goes wrong when he's on his own. He hopes to be able to find someone who can come to Boston to stay with him and provide the necessary help. Colin is concurrently in a clinical research trial for the lymphoma, and is being given chemotherapy and radiation for the carcinoma. As you can imagine, even though some expenses are covered, there are lots of treatments, travel and unexpected expenses of being a full time patient. Once he gets through this, Colin's long term goal is to start up a small non-profit, home based handyman service that he could manage on "good days". He wants to clearly illustrate to his children how we all can still contribute to friends, family and others in the community even when a full time or traditional job may be unrealistic. Please contribute if you can. Even a small amount would be much appreciated and be a big help towards making Colin's time in Boston less stressful!
