Story
Sadly, he is no longer with us as he lost his battle with cancer just 3 months ago. From an early age, my Dad instilled a positive attitude within me to follow my dreams, travel the world and challenge myself to new things and sporting achievements.
I have wanted to complete a Cycle Challenge for quite some time now and I keep hearing my Dads silly voice saying
“Are you sure!?”
“Good Luck”
“Have Fun”
“Make sure, you wear a helmet”
I now have a team of riders who are keen to join me on this quest. We will be enduring a Chester to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge to help raise money for Wirral St John's Hospice where my Dad spent his final days.
The Hospice costs in the region of £4million a year to run, and whilst they do receive some NHS grants, the majority of their income is generated from donations. So, every penny counts, please donate as much or as little as you can for this fantastic cause. They can continue to provide excellent specialist care for patients and loved ones.
On Wednesday 12th May 2021, the team of Riders will be cycling 320km or 198 miles from Chester to Amsterdam over the course of 3 days.
Day 1 – Chester (Eastgate Clock) to Thurlstone Millhouse
Day 2 – Thurlstone Millhouse to Hull
Day 3 – Hoek Van Holland to Amsterdam Central
Funds donated to this page will go directly to support the team during the course of this challenge and with your help we can achieve our target and make a 'Huge' donation to Wirral St John's Hospice
So far the Team includes;
Andy McKinney (Myself)
Joel Bate
Tom Briggs
Matt Davison
Luke Briggs
Jack Watkins
Ross Kennedy
We have a few more Riders in the pipeline which I will announce in due course, meanwhile if you would like to get involved in some way please contact me directly.

6 months agoLuke has been a top family friend for many a year. A keen rider with a penchant for vintage road bikes and getting out into nature. He can often be found yomping around the stunning coastal paths of Pembrokeshire with his lovely partner Matilda when he’s not busy advising farmers on sustainability and protecting the environment. He’s an avid record collector, with an ear particularly geared towards the mythical underground sounds of Detroit and Chicago.

7 months agoTom is a handy bloke when it comes to anything athletic. Participating in several charity events each year he’s a frequent fundraiser and deserves a hell of mention. Some of the best accomplishments out of our group including; The London Marathon, Everest Basecamp, Manchester 10k and a few Triathlons under his belt to name just a few. Tom has recently become a father to the beautiful Darcie and it’s a credit to him to devote his time to raising money for Wirral St John’s Hospice on behalf of my Dad. 🙎♂️👨👧🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️

7 months agoJoel is a very talented individual who can turn his hand to lots of sports but at the moment his main domain is the cycling itself. Absolute huge accomplishment in June with 600km smashed with an average speed of 32kph. He’s been to 3 different Continents carving the slopes on his board which is another great passion of his. 🏔🏔🏂🏂 On a given day you can find Joel sitting in his bedroom making sales calls nationwide. Happy to have Austin’s Godfather on board as always, wouldn’t be right without him. 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
