Story
In 2018 Oakford Services was created by Unicare Devon as a not for profit venture to support our local community with many different issues that our vulnerable loved ones struggle to get funding for, such as a dementia cafe, death cafe and moving and handling training for family members who have to deal with the sometimes hard task of moving their loved ones at home. Unicare management and staff have worked so hard to convert our office, which now includes a bespoke kitchen with rise and fall sides so wheelchair users can also be part of things, and a roll in shower room so people who may struggle at home with a bath can come in and freshen up.
So this is where you all come in. We have now run through all the money we have for this not for profit community effort but we would like to purchase an interactive table for people with dementia as these amazing pieces of equipment are proven to stimulate people who live with the condition.
However they were nearly £10,000 including vat so anything you could afford to give we would really appreciate and to continue support of this project, myself and our accountant Paul from Paul Dollin Accountants in Torquay have committed to pay our own way to Africa and take on Kilimanjaro in October 2019, Those who know me will know I'm a big chap who needs to lose several stone to do this so it's more a double challenge for me!
Paul and I will be promoting this climb everywhere over the next year so please support this and either donate here or contact us and sponsor us so we can make our local community space even better...
Thank you in advance

We are so excited that our friends Alan and Chris are coming on our exciting adventure and I am truly inspired by Chris who has brain damage from cerebral palsy and when he makes it to the top will be the first person to do so with his condition 😁
Thanks to CLH Healthcare for bringing this amazing product to Devon

Life is funny really as we all rush around not noticing things other than our urgent list of things to do in any said day, I loves to see the little things in everyday life and to see someone living with Dementia do the same even for just that moment is worth it.
