Story

Doctors and clinical staff need modern up-to-date medical equipment to provide first-class care in the community. As a former doctor at Ambleside Health Centre, I recognise that better equipment can help speed up and improve medical diagnosis and treatment. It can prevent long and unnecessary trips to hospital for routine investigation or even in-patient treatment.

The Patient Fund at Ambleside is a charitable fund. Its money is exclusively used for benefit of patients, in the form of new equipment or services.

I'm cycling the Fred Whitton on May 12th, 2019. This is an infamous and gruelling sportive in the Lake District. It is over 180km long, with more than 3,900 metres of climbing. The hills are steep: 4 of them have gradients of 25% or more.

I would like to raise funds, through the race, to improve the care of patients that live in, and around, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Grasmere.

Aside from a small fee charged by JustGiving, 100% of any donations to this cause will go to the Patient Fund of the Central Lakes Medical Group.
