John lost £20,000 to crooks who targeted him in an elaborate telephone banking scam in March of this year, in which he handed over his bank details to callers claiming to be from Virgin Media and Santander. (You can read more about exactly what happened here.)

The police have been unable to trace the criminals or recoup any of the lost savings and Santander have been entirely useless. We want to do something to help - if we can raise even half of what was lost, we'd be delighted. He's a much loved local character, so please do dig deep! Every little helps.

(Please note: if by any chance Santander do manage to retrieve the lost savings, we plan to split any JustGiving donations between Anthony Nolan and Loros, the Leicester hospice charity. Both have been incredible in the support they've given John since 2013, when he was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia, requiring regular medical attention ever since.)
