    Story

In late 2015, our dear friend John was diagnosed with aggressive Gall Bladder Cancer just 2 days before his birthday. An initial procedure to remove the tumour proved successful until March 2017 where a replacement lump was discovered. Unfortunately, the NHS don’t currently offer treatment that could be successful with the prognosis.

John Johnson. Who is he? John Grew up in Dudley and was one of four siblings. He is now a loved father of two boys.
John’s musical career started at the young age of 8 where he learnt to play the trombone and became a member of local brass ensembles. . Between the 80’s and 90’s John became locally known in Birmingham and played with The Soul Survivors for 15 years.

At the age of 21, he took on his first international tour in the Caribbean and through Europe with Musical Youth. His adaptable playing style allowed him to tour and get involved with a variety of musical genres that will have touched everyone at some point, including steel Pulse and Will Young. By 1998 John was a fully-fledged member of Simply Red following their album release of Blue. Since that point he has featured on every album that followed on from 1998 until Tribute to Bobby. The Past 6 years has seen John touring globally with UB40, working with them on 2 albums, with a 3rd in the work. After 35 years giving back to the music industry and the millions of listeners he began working on his own album alongside Earl Cohen which unfortunately was never completed.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, time is of the essence! Previous treatments have been unsuccessful and other treatments that are offered by the NHS haven’t had the hoped-for outcome.

Our last hope relies solely with a revolutionary targeted and controlled stem cell treatment & Naturopathy, this comes at an immense cost. We are reaching out to anyone able to help with John’s fight. All donations, no matter how small, are hugely appreciated.

From all of John's loving friends
