Story
The John O'Byrne Foundation was set up to enable me to let some children who attend Glasgow Children’s Hospital in Glasgow as either inpatients or outpatients experience a little happiness in their lives. Our motto is “Happiness Matters” and the logo for the foundation was created by children currently attending the hospital due to long term illness.
I set up the foundation after noticing through my voluntary work at the Glasgow Children’s Hospital where I have volunteered for the last 8 years that some children did not get the opportunity either through illness or complications to attend organised functions or days out and thought it would be a great idea to set up small specially tailored events for some of these children.
I was nominated and won the RBS/STV “Scotland’s Hero” award in 2015 for the work that the Foundation does for children in hospital.
June 3rd 2018 there is a large group of people who are taking the challange and climbing Ben Nevis . This is a massive contribution to my foundation. It will help me to continue to help and support children and families with giving there stay in hospital a little more enjoyment . Happiness Matters !
