Story

This year the John Roan School has three representatives running the London Marathon. Luke Thomas (Head of Year 10), Sophie Tutt (History Teacher) and Kelly Arnold (daughter of a staff member), who are all currently hard at training and hoping to raise money for the students of the John Roan.

At the John Roan, we have a high number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a school we aim to close the attainment gap between these students and non-disadvantaged students. With the money raised this year, we are going to organise a fantastic inclusive end of year trip to reward our students for their hard work. This trip will hopefully motivate these students and contribute in some way to closing this attainment gap.

The amount of money we raise will largely determine the amount of students we can invite on this reward trip, and the location, so any contribution will be very much appreciated! All of the funds donated will go towards the cost of the trip to ensure that everyone can take part. We hope the initiative will inspire these young people to face and overcome challenges.

A huge thank you from the staff and students at the John Roan.
