I've raised £1500 to celebrate the life of John Charnock, a keen cyclist who suffered life changing injuries as a result of a cycling accident.

John Charnock was born in Wigan on the 11th December 1952, he was a keen fitness fanatic and enjoyed cycling whenever he could. On the 19th May 1989 John was involved in a collision when stationary on his push bike and left in a critical condition. At the time of the accident John was not wearing a helmet and the doctors said that he only survived due to the sheer strength of his heart; so strong as a result of his high levels of fitness. John had a difficult road to recovery and was left with life changing injuries to both his body and his brain, but despite this, always had a smile and joke for his family and friends. On Sunday 3rd March, John passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
It has been decided that any donations made at the funeral or otherwise will be used to purchase and supply local primary schools with helmets, to raise awareness of the importance of such an item whilst providing those who may need one, a helmet, free of charge.
We hope to raise a minimum of £500 to start us on our journey of Johns Helping Helmets.
With special thanks to John, the inspiration behind the project.
