We are attempting to raise £5,000 for a memorial bench and a charity donation to Bowel Cancer UK in memory of John Wildman.

Steve Neal, Steve Roberts and Conor Keating (and support driver Dale Jones) are undertaking a bike ride to raise money for a memorial bench to be installed at Corwen Cricket Club and tennis courts. John sadly passed away on 6th June 2026 at the age of 44 years.

John was a loved member of the community who was instrumental in raising funds and Government grants for the cricket club and the new tennis courts in Corwen.

John was a huge cricket fan and we will be cycling 145km (with a vertical elevation of 1,000m) from Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham to Corwen Cricket Club to raise funds for this cause.

Edgbaston was the venue of the 'Greatest ever day of test cricket' as John himself described it. It was 4th August 2005, the first day of the 2nd Ashes test match when England scored 407 against Australia in a day. We were incredibly lucky to experience this day with John at Edgbaston.

We would be grateful for any contributions to this cause. We are anticipating the bench and plaque costing £750 and will be donating the rest to Bowel Cancer UK.
