Story

Hello, we are a group of 4 girls. Eliza Oberoi, Mimi Koch, Saisha Chawla and Safira Chatwal. We are all around 13 years old, and we have lived in India at some point in our lives. Some of us are still living here. We’ve all met each other by living in India from our international school. We all share the passion of helping others, living in a place like India has given us a chance to make a difference and grow as individuals. India is such a unique country, but there is a lot of poverty which is brought to our attention. Seeing how fortunate we are, we really want to help. This experience has transformed our lives, and we want to keep ongoing.

We have been helping “The Mother Theresa Orphanage” for about 2 years now, the orphanage is located in Old Delhi, India. All the children in the orphanage have some sort of disability, some are blind or deaf, and others have mobility issues. The orphanage has 24 amazing disabled children, it has a very homely feel and many rooms. They share a playroom, kitchen, communal bedrooms and many learning spaces. The children range from ages 2-14 and get along well. They receive a good education, and the orphanage arranges tutoring for special needs. There are always activities to get engaged with, they are always happy and having lots of fun. They have many interests and the orphanage helps pursue them, some of the older children have learned multiple dances, musical instruments, etc. The staff at Mother Teresa Orphanage are amazing, they are so well adjusted to the kids needs. They play a major role in the kid’s lives and running the orphanage. They are extremely kind, caring, and helpful. The orphanage is very clean and organised, but the facilities for the children's specific disabilities are lacking.

We have really enjoyed working with Mother Teresa and have accomplished a lot. We started off by asking around for money, because we wanted to raise money for 3 children with mobility issues who could not move. They needed wheelchairs that could support their body in order for them to be able to move out of their cots and see more than the ceiling above them. We got everyone who donated to go on a trip to the orphanage, where we gave them the money to buy their first wheelchair. When we came they performed an incredible dance and song. We were so touched and felt a connection to these kids, and wanted to make an impact on their lives. We didn't want to stop until we had gotten all 3 wheelchairs for the kids with mobility issues. Once we bought the first wheelchair, we wanted to continue with what we were doing. We organised a sponsor run and raised 22,000 rps, therefore we could get the other 2 wheelchairs. After we had accomplished that goal, we started to realise there were other ways to benefit the kid’s lives. Such as a sensory room, for all the disabeled children. We started with this crowdfunding/just giving website to help fund the sensory room. We have now funded the sensory room and we are so grateful for all the help and support we have received over the last year. We would like to help Mother Theresa Orphanage through the tough journey they’re fighting. The coronavirus, which is something that has really affected many lives, and could put a lot of these kids lives in danger. We think that it is very important to help them. We are now going to be sending deliveries as often as we can to the orphanage. We have gotten a list of things that they need and have dispatched the order. We now plan on sending them the deliveries as often as we can.

We are so happy with where we have gotten, we will be posting updates on this website, so please keep checking for any recent information. If you have any questions about anything please don’t hesitate to email us:

We are incredibly grateful to all the help we have gotten and hope to make a difference! Everything counts. Help us make this happen, and help us make a difference in these kid’s lives. Thank you so much!
