I've raised £2000 to give to 2 ladies who are far braver than I. And for Jane who sadly passed last autumn. & i personally will donate to Mind for mental health.

Last year one of my dear dear friends lost her battle to cancer, a month before her son's wedding. She really was the nicest person on this planet; always so kind and keen to listen to everyone else's trivial problems; she was incredibly positive and upbeat. I feel like she appears every now and then and works her magic still. She has two children who I will give the money to and we will discuss the best options, she loved going to retreats for people suffering and i also know The Hospice were incredibly kind to her and she was very fond of all her nurses. Then there is also Sarah and Rosie from my home town in Devon; Sarah is a nutritional encyclopaedia which is a keen interest of mine and Rosie is a young medical student undergoing treatment for Ovarian Cancer. Rosie continues to inspire me on her instagram stories (wellness.with.rosie) spinning, gyming and nourishing her body as best she can with delicious and nutritious recipes. I can't imagine how it feels to transition from medical student to patient. She would like to donate money to the Willow Foundation and the Little Princess Trust.
If i reach over £1000 i would also like to donate to a charity of my choice - either Mind or one that helps people who have been in sport but can no longer participate either through illness or injury. I had no idea how an injury could affect my own personal well being. I still can not walk in comfort but I can cycle - and for this I am truly lucky and thank my lucky stars.
I am not usually one to do fund raising; mainly because a lot of stuff I do, I do for pleasure! This however is a challenge far beyond anything I have done before so I think it is valid to try raise a few pennies. I will be on my own and self supported. I will be cycling 1500km from Meribel to Nantes and then up to Roscoff to catch the ferry across to Devon. Then hopefully stay the night in Plymouth and fingers crossed get to Salcombe for coffee and maybe even a bacon sandwich at The Salcombe Coffee Company! So for now, in the words of Dory (but slightly adjusted) “just keep on pedaling”!
