    Story

Christmas time can be a truely sad time for many people who have little or no-one to share it with. Surviving poverty or loneliness is terribly isolating at any time of the year, but at Christmas time it is hugely amplified.

At Jollytots & Cookies Cafe in Uddingston we have opened our cafe on Christmas day over the last two years and are looking for help to once again so we can welcome those who need some TLC somewhere warm and happy to spend a few hours.

We provide a 3 course meal, food hampers, gifts, entertainment, hair dressing and beauty treatments all for FREE.

We have welcomed people who are suffering from depression, loneliness, addiction issues, in poverty or homeless. Anyone who is in need of somewhere to go on Christmas Day is welcome. We also support some of these people throughout the year with providing furnishings or food.

We can only do this with support from people like you who are willing to give a little to help their fellow man.

You only have to look at the picture taken on our first Christmas day event to see the joy on the faces of just three of the men who joined us.

An elderly guest told us that she had never celebrated a Christmas like it and felt she had been treated like Royalty. So wonderful knowing that on what can feel like the most desparately sad day of the year for many can be turned into one of joy.

From the bottom of my heart thank you for your support, big or small. x

Hi I'm Gail and I run a family friendly cafe in Uddingston. Having grown up in poverty with an alcoholic parent I recognise that the Festive Season is not so jolly for some. It can be a sad reminder to many of just how dire their situation is.
