Story
We have proudly offered membership of the rowing club since the 1980s, and over the last 40-odd years the club has enjoyed incredible success on the national and international stage, boasting Olympians amongst the club alumni. The rowing club is an entirely self-funded extra-curricular club that relies heavily upon the rowers' parents and the goodwill of donors to enable our crew to train and compete.
The sport does require an array of equipment, from winter training on the club ergs, to the boats (seating 1, 2, 4 or 8 rowers) the carbon fibre oars, the performance tracking GPS equipment and all the paraphernalia to enable us to attend races such as the trailers and minibuses. Investing in new equipment, this year we have targeted a new 4X+ and a heavy weight double to have a rolling programme to update our fleet, much of which is over 25 years old.
With all of these needs and the ongoing support from our dedicated coaching team comes cost, and this is where our ninety talented young rowers are keen to play their part and encourage YOU to support them - it's the least we can do for them :)
So, on Saturday June 28th they will be taking to the water in our fleet of boats to row as many lengths per crew in 4 hours as they can- on our beautiful stretch of the Tyne! We hope that reading this will inspire you to contribute to their future success, and if possible pop down to the Tyne Green Country Park to lend your encouragement - thank you!
