Story
We are group of qualified running leaders from various Telford running groups looking to hold regular start running courses for people suffering from mental health problems. After an initial successful course in the summer of 2017 we are keen to put on more. We know that exercise and in particular running can help with depression and anxiety, improve self-esteem and social inclusion, can improve sleep and give people a positive sense of purpose and focus. We need funds to be able to hire rooms to meet for our initial sessions, to buy medals to give to participants who complete the courses, produce promotional materials like posters and enable people who want to run but can't afford the kit support to help them start.
On August 26th Jon Aston who is a England Athletics mental health ambassador and one of co-leaders of the Telford runandtalk group will be running non-stop the 130 miles from Liverpool to Leeds in order to raise funds for the group. Jon has recently suffered from severe depression and knows how important running has been to his recovery, this run is the last of three long distance runs he is running over the summer. Coming only four weeks after the last 145 mile race and still whilst recovering from the illness this last race is likely to be the toughest. Please support Jon by making a donation however small to our fund so that we can continue to help people with mental health problems to get into running. Knowing Jon is running for this cause and that he has your support will help him when the going gets hard.
