Jonny and Kenny's Road Trip to The Gambia
Jonathan and Kenny are about to embark on a Top Gear style road trip.
Jonathan brought a Ford Focus with 186,000 miles on the clock for £300 in the summer, and drove it to Croatia with his Son Alfie. To everyone's surprise it made it there and back, so it is time for a new challenge.
After many discussions over a pint or two with Kenny, a plan was hatched to drive to The Gambia. The countries they will be driving through are France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and finishing in The Gambia. The full journey is approximately 3600 miles, and should take 6/7 days. They will be travelling light with just one jerry can, a tyre pump, and a spare tyre with a slow puncture - what could possibly go wrong?
The journey begins on 12th December, and is only one way for the Focus. If it breaks down and can be easily fixed they will carry on, if it requires more major repairs it stays and they hitch hike. If it makes it all the way it will be given to a good cause, or sold and the money given to a local Gambian charity.
All money raised will go to Weatherfield Academy (see letter below), which is a special school attended by Jonathan's Son Alfie. All travel costs are being covered by Kenny and Jonathan. Should Kenny get kidnapped, no sponsor money will be used for his release - they can keep him!!
