Story
Hello! First off, Thank you so much for even clicking and visiting my page, it means so much to me!
Right...strap in...
My name is Jordan Kouame and I am a 23 year old actor from North (Norf) London. I am overjoyed to say that I have been offered a place on the BA Acting course at RADA! it still feels so surreal. Over 3500 people applied to be on the course this year but only 28 are offered a place. This is a massive achievement but also a momentous opportunity for me to further cement my career as an actor.
Why I need your help
I moved to this country (from the Ivory Coast) when I was 6 years old. I've grown up here, gone to school here, made life-long friends here, learnt all I know about life and the world here, this IS my country.
But for the past four years, my mum and I have been in an on-going court-case with the Home Office over our migrant status. Two years ago, I also received an offer from LAMDA for the BA acting course which I unfortunately had to decline because the Home Office deemed it not within my rights to study in the UK.
Now, two years on, everything has been sorted out but there is a new hurdle and it’s name is The Student Loan Company.
The SLC have been cooperative but the government have made it virtually impossible for someone with my visa to get a student loan in time.
I would take up a part-time job to help me get through the year but...
Contact time at RADA is exceptionally high, well in excess of 35 hours per week, which does not take into account the amount of work to be undertaken in the evenings in preparation for the following day. Therefore, unlike students on most other degree courses, it is not feasible for students to undertake regular part time work during term time without detriment either to the training or to the students health”
