    Story

The Jordan Legacy is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) established in memory of Jordan Phillip, from Horsforth, Leeds, who tragically took his own life on December 4th 2019, age 34. Within weeks of Jordan's death, his father, Steve, made a commitment to do whatever was necessary to ensure that no other family would have to receive the call that he did that day.

The Jordan Legacy began in March 2020 has a self-funded (from savings) website to provide Help resources to those who were contemplating ending their lives and to support those bereaved by suicide and those struggling with their mental health.

By the time The Jordan Legacy became a registered company in October 2020, Steve was already delivering talks on the topics of suicide prevention and mental wellbeing to organizations around the UK, including the military and a number of government departments, including the Cabinet Office, Home Office, the DHSC and others.

To date, The Jordan Legacy has not relied on any government or public grant funding and is able to continue to operate thanks to the generosity of individuals and organisations donating to their Mission.

There is overwhelming evidence to suggest that most suicides are preventable if the right interventions take place - we can all make a difference and help save a life.

To understand our story, please watch this video interview with Steve, Jordan's father, which was recorded in 2021

By donating to this page, you will be helping us to continue to:

    - deliver awareness raising talks and workshops on the topic of mental health and suicide prevention in our communities, schools, colleges and workplaces

-raise awareness via social media, including to Steve's more than 40K followers on LinkedIn. This includes the publication of self-generated articles and the sharing of researched content relating to mental health and suicide prevention.

    - host online panel discussion events and conferences, related to the layers of The Jordan Legacy’s Zero Suicide Strategy – see this page of our website for our upcoming and planned https://bit.ly/356U5UU

    - put on live, physical events, such as the #HopeForLife Conference, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, held on December 1st 2021. This event took several months of planning and incurred associated costs for speakers’ expenses, room hire, audio visual equipment and management and catering. The event attracted 130 physical delegates and was live-streamed to an online audience. Please see this website page for details of this event https://bit.ly/3HWRziI .

    - work and partner with organizations and groups, such as Samaritans and the Police, Network Rail, Highways England and others who are committed to improving the mental health in our communities, including our; schools, colleges and universities, local businesses, sports clubs and teams and other groups and bodies.

    - meet and work closely with the Government's Department of Health and Social Care to communicate and raise awareness about the Government’s long term and shot term mental health and suicide prevention strategies – this involves meetings with senior policy leads at the DHSC.

    - maintain The Jordan Legacy's online, #HopeForLife Community Hub, where those working in the suicide prevention sector discuss key topics and agree actions relating to suicide prevention.

    - respond to enquires and messages from those bereaved by suicide, those considering taking their own lives and those who are concerned about the mental wellbeing of someone they know.

    - continually research issues relating to mental health and suicide, the most relevant of which are then added to our website’s Help resources pages

The points mentioned above are just some of the daily projects and tasks, The Jordan Legacy undertakes to help us all move toward a Zero Suicide society and in memory of Jordan.

Thank you for your support, from everyone at The Jordan Legacy, including Jordan's family and loved ones.
