    Story

This appeal is for my 22 year old son, Jordan.During his teens he seemed to be prone to kidney infections.
When he was 15, he contracted the streptococcal virus and he had a severe episode involving his kidneys, following this illness. This was diagnosed as post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. After this, he had several further episodes of frank haematuria and pain. He was given a biopsy when he was 18, then came the dreaded news. My son had IGA Nephropathy. Kidney disease. Long term. Incurable. A very uncertain long term prognosis.
For the past 2 years, Jordan has suffered with headaches, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. I was concerned about Jordan's condition, so I moved him back into the family home.
A few months ago, Jordan's condition had worsened to the point where he was in constant pain and losing weight. I was fighting to get a diagnosis and treatment for Jordan, and doing anything I could to make his life better. I took him on his first proper holiday, using money that my mum had left me when she passed away last year, but he was too poorly to enjoy it and spent most of his time in bed.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, I took him to the local A&E department that morning. In the nick of time. After some tests, the A&E doctor told me that Jordan's kidneys had failed and he was in sepsis. The next few hours were critical. Jordan was rushed to intensive care, a shunt was inserted into his neck and he was placed on haemodialysis, to try and clear the toxins from his blood.
So here's the pride swallowing bit. I want to take Jordan on a real holiday when he is well enough. I want to take him to swim in the sea, to enjoy the sunshine, to smile and have fun, and have no cares or worries for a week. He deserves it so much.Anything you can donate would be such a huge help. But more than that. It will make him realise how many people care, how many people are fighting his corner, and it will give him the strength to keep fighting.
    Thanks x

Jordan's biopsy results came back. A lot of scarring and damage (90%). At the moment he is facing dialysis 3 times a week. Possibly for the rest of his life, but we are hoping for a miracle. He is home now n currently able to walk to the shop, aided. But he can't go out on his own, and busy/crowded places not an option due to jugular catheter. This will be the case for 3 months until his fistula has been created and is usable. He is feeling determined and strong, despite everything <3 he is definitely braver than me!

So its Sunday morning. Jordan has been in ICU for 6 days. He must be picking up, cos he is getting impatient to come home now! He will be hopefully transferred to the renal unit at Salford Royal very soon, so they can assess his kidney function and any damage. But he is feeling positive. Thanks to all who have donated and for all the messages of love and support. I will keep you posted. Clare x
