In July 2026, my beautiful little girl Coco, who is 10 years old, was diagnosed with heart failure. Hearing those words was absolutely heart breaking. Coco isn't just a dog, she's my family, my best friend, and my constant companion. She has been by my side through so much and fills every day with love, comfort, and happiness.

Thankfully, the medication she is currently taking is helping to manage her condition and improve her quality of life. However, these medications can only slow the progression of the disease and are not a cure.

Wanting to explore every possible option for Coco, I was referred to the specialists at Willows Veterinary Centre in Solihull. After assessing her condition, they gave us some hope and advised that Coco could be eligible for a life changing procedure called TEER (Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair).

This surgery is one of the most advanced treatments available for dogs with Coco's condition and is currently only performed in two locations across the UK. The procedure involves placing a small V-Clamp on the leaking mitral valve in the heart, helping it close properly and reducing the strain on her heart. For dogs like Coco, it can offer the chance of more happy years doing the things they love.

Without hesitation, I said yes. As any pet owner would understand, when someone you love is given a chance, you take it.

The amazing team at Bristol Vet Specialists have now scheduled Coco's surgery for the coming weeks. While I am incredibly grateful that this treatment is available, the cost is overwhelming, starting at £12,000.
