I am running two marathons to raise funds towards my final tuition fee. I am doing this run to encourage others that through hard work you can overcome lifes obstacles.
You may not know me but those who do know that I have been through a lot these past couple years. This run will be a big challenge for me.
I am currently in the final stretch of a long journey of becoming an Architect. The RIBA qualification takes a minimum of 7 years. Funding this course leaves students being in thousands of pounds worth of debt but I have been working from a young age in order to educate myself and taken gap years just to work. I have constantly had to overcome difficulties and misfortunes in my life. Due to the financial crisis, my family lost our home, which my dad built in the 80s, leaving both my parents bankrupt and unable to provide for my family.
I had to work to help pay bills and put food on the table along with pay my entire education myself. Many tutors in architecture laugh at students who attempt to work part time but it was a necessity and due to my hard work I´ve always managed to get good grades, pass my courses and pay all my fees with little to no help from others.
When I graduated my undergrad I was offered a position in London and was thrilled to have a job right out of university but life reared its ugly head again and I was dealt another obstacle. My dad suffered a hemorrogis stroke that put him into a coma for several months to which he has now woken up from. However, his condition is deteriorating and his memory and ability to recognise, converse, or live on his own has ended with little chance of recovery now.
Even the littlest amount will help, as I´ve exhausted all my available resources and I have no one else to turn to.
This is a continuous fundraising in addition to my other page that I forgot to extend the final date so it closed down.
Thank you for your time reading this & for considering donating.
