My name is Josh, I am a close friend of Estelle and Mathewe, and Godfather to Max and Lucas. I am going to attempt to tell Estelle's story with as much info as possible, and give an insight into Estelle's situation.
Estelle is a 32 year old mum of twins Max and Lucas, who are 2 years old, so the following story will hopefully detail how traumatic this situation is for her husband, sons, and anybody connected to Estelle.
In July this year, Estelle started to suffer with acute shoulder pain. After a visit to A & E, she was prescribed painkillers and told to monitor her pain, however, the pain was relentless and Estelle returned to hospital.
Wexham Park hospital performed a CT scan on Estelle's shoulder, and all seemed ok, although just by chance a section of her liver showed on the scan, and appeared to have shadowing. A CT scan of Estelle's torso was then conducted, which revealed a large cancerous mass in her colon, which had also spread to her liver, lymph nodes and therefore her bloodstream, making the diagnosis stage 4 cancer, which in Estelle's case is terminal.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis was a devastating shock to everybody. Everything was, and still is moving very quickly. At present Estelle is having chemotherapy, and regular meetings with doctors and nurses, and also macmillan which have been brilliant so far.
There isn't an operation that Estelle can have to cure this, and the chemo she is having is predominantly to prolong life. Estelle's liver doesn't have a large enough section that is healthy enough to perform a transplant, so surgery isn't possible.
We are not sure exactly how much time Estelle has left with us, and the most important thing to her now is quality time with her family, which is why I have created this page to enable Estelle to create some amazing memories.
There are a few things on Estelle's wish list, and a family getaway is top of the list, with Lapland UK a close second. I hope we can all help Estelle achieve this
