Story

And I will (run) 500 more !

Earlier this year, I was due to take part in the Manchester Marathon to raise money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. However, like many others I’ve had to change my plans slightly.

Instead, in the spirit of my Scottish heroes and fellow Hibees, The Proclaimers, I have decided to run 500 miles...and then run 500 more.

And to add a bit of pressure, I'll be attempting to do this before the end of the year.

Until I began my marathon training I had never run much more than a highly average university football game requires a even more average centre half to run.

However, here I am, close to 378 miles in. The reason behind this decision remains to try to pitch in to the amazing and inspiring work that former footballer Stephen Darby and British Forces veteran Chris Rimmer have started through their Foundation.

The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation aims to not only raise awareness of motor neuron disease and educate people about what the disease entails, but also, through the money raised, support those living with MND.

With there being no effective treatment and no cure for MND, funds raised by the foundation will also go towards research in this area.

Every donation however big or small will help make a real difference to people's lives and enable the Darby Rimmer Foundation to continue to #AttackMND
