Story
You’ve landed on my JustGiving page — and I’m so grateful you’re here.
This August, I’ll be attempting one of the toughest endurance challenges in the world: swimming the English Channel from England to France.
No wetsuit.
No goose fat.
No shortcuts.
Just 33,796 metres of open water. Cold. Relentless. Unforgiving.
The swim could take between 12 and 16 hours of continuous effort in temperatures as low as 10°C. There will be tides pulling me off course, waves breaking rhythm, and moments where my body and mind beg me to stop.
But I won’t stop.
Because this isn’t just about swimming across the Channel. It’s about turning every single metre into meaningful support for people who truly need it.
That’s why I’m aiming to raise £33,796 — £1 for every metre swum.
Ambitious? Absolutely.
But then again, so is swimming nearly 34 kilometres across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
---->How did this happen?
Swimming has always been part of my life. Growing up, my brother and I competed regularly — although the longest race I’d ever swum back then was just 100 metres.
Now I’ve signed up for something 337 times longer.
Since committing to the crossing in March 2024, my life has revolved around training: early mornings, ice-cold water acclimatisation, endless endurance sessions, and learning how to keep going when everything hurts. Every stroke is preparation for that one day in the Channel.
----> Why these charities?
I’ve chosen organisations that have personally impacted people along my journey and continue to change lives every single day.
Hullbridge Parkinson’s Café - https://parkinsonscafe.co.uk/
Chosen by me, simply because my nan lives with Parkinson’s and benefits from the support they provide. They offer a vital community for those affected — patients, carers, and families — creating connection, understanding, and strength.
Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) - https://rnli.org/
Chosen by me, because of course, if something goes wrong during my swim, they are the people who would come to save us. For over 200 years, RNLI volunteers have risked their lives to protect others at sea — in all conditions, at any hour.
Phoenix Heroes - https://www.phoenixheroes.co.uk/
Chosen by one of the most decorated SAS leaders and TVs SAS : Who Dares Wins, Billy Billingham. Billy gave me a great insight into the power of mental fortitude to overcome the perceived impossible. Phoenix Heroes support Armed Forces veterans and their families, helping those facing PTSD and mental health challenges rebuild purpose, strength, and community.
Endometriosis UK - https://www.endometriosis-uk.org/
Chosen by Ireland's first Olympic Luge athlete, Elsa Desmond, Endometriosis UK provide essential support, campaigning for change, and funding research for those living with endometriosis — a condition affecting millions but still widely misunderstood.
----> Why your donation matters
Because this challenge is temporary for me.
For many people supported by these charities, their challenges are lifelong.
Whether you donate £1, £5, £50, or £1,000, you are helping transform cold, exhausting kilometres into real-world impact.
You’re not just sponsoring a swim.
You’re backing community support.
You’re backing life-saving services.
You’re backing mental health.
You’re backing research and awareness.
Thank you for taking the time to be here.
Every donation, every share, and every message of support will carry me one metre further across that water.
Let’s turn 33,796 metres into something extraordinary.
