Story

Hello!

I have been volunteering at Poole Food Bank for over 9 months now. During that time the demand for help has grown 77%! I have met nurses, school teachers and other professions that have had no choice but to turn to the food bank as the cost of living crisis takes hold throughout the UK.

We are extremely grateful for all food donations received however as a charity we are also being affected by rising prices. Therefore, I am trying to raise money through contacts to cover the increasing overheads and hopefully the purchase of a bigger van to supply more food donations to people in extreme need.

So, to try and raise funds to get this well-needed vehicle, I’ve set myself the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain in Africa) in late 2023. It’s a tall order, but the Purbecks are offering some good routes to begin the training schedule, and hopefully off to Snowdonia at some point to fine tune the mountain legs.

We’re all trying to do our bit and any donations would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this will also help raise awareness of the great work done by this team that has been doing it for years.

Unfortunately, like with all adversity, until you witness it first-hand it’s difficult to imagine how bad a situation might be. Please watch my video below which will hopefully give you more insight to the Food Bank!

We thank you for taking the time to hear our story and would be grateful if you could share this story with others. If you have any questions at all or would like to know more about my experience or how you can help volunteer, please drop me a message.

Thanks again,

Josh & the PFB team
