I've raised £1500 to help fund the refurbishment of the Bereavement Suite in Grimsby Maternity Hospital and donate a cash amount to Tommy's charity

On the morning of 13th October 2017 we got ready for a routine growth scan, we was excited, we was going to see our little boy again. Deep down I think I knew something was wrong, but it wasn’t until we heard those words that I realised how wrong things were...”we‘re sorry, we can’t find a heartbeat”. Words which are haunting, and which no parent should ever have to hear.
We took ourself off home, told our nearest and dearest and then went back to hospital and after delivered our beautiful baby boy on at 8.25am on 14th October 2016.
During our stay in hospital and in the days following on from Joshua’s birth the support we received was amazing and from so many different people. We was able to stay in a specially designed room that felt like we wasn't in hospital. It was homely, calm and relaxed and helped us feel more at ease about our situation. It was also away from the other Mother's who were giving birth and had given birth and was with their new babies.
We was able to stay in the room whilst the labour progressed and then the days following the birth of Joshua.
The room is not at all clinical like a standard hospital labour room, however, it is dated. Therefore the money raised will go towards funding this, to help other families feel more relaxed about their tragic situation.
We will also donate a cash amount to Tommy's Charity. This is a fantastic charity that helps fund research into stillbirth, miscarriage and premature birth. They have their own midwives who help advise pregnant ladies who have and haven't previously lost children. They really are a huge life line for lots of families and provide some amazing information.
