Story

Joshua is 9 years old and attends a local Rossendale School. His passion is goalkeeping so he's never been a big runner however after taking part in Rossendale School Sports Virtual Mile at the end of May, Joshua had an idea of running a mile every day in June to help to increase his fitness ready for the new football season. He then thought that as well as improving his fitness, he could also use this opportunity to say Thank You to the doctors and nurses that are doing the amazing job of looking after his grandad on the Covid Ward at Salford Royal Hospital. Joshua facetimes his grandad every day to see how he is getting on and every day there is a nurse there to say hello in her disposable gown, gloves and mask. These nurses are alongside our loved ones that have this horrible virus while having to go home to their own families and loved ones, not knowing whether they have caught the virus them selves that day and are taking it home. It is a really stressful and upsetting time for these doctors and nurses yet they give our loved ones the best treatment possible and always with a smile.

Joshua thought it would be amazing if he could raise as much money as possible so that he could create a relaxation room for the doctors and nurses that are working on the covid wards. These rooms will be a relaxing space that they can go to during their shift for a little bit of time out when they need a boost. The mental health and wellbeing of the NHS staff is really important to us and we believe that we need to look after them as well as they look after us! Joshua has an Amazon wish list consisting of a Massage Chair, Aromatherapy diffuser and oils, MP3 player and bluetooth speaker, Foot massagers, Eye masks, Moisturising lotion and Calm Balms.

Joshua would like to purchase these items for as many hospitals and wards as possible to reach as many NHS workers as he can.

We have created a Facebook Page called Joshua's 30 miles in 30 days so you can follow Joshuas journey of his daily challenge, which will be a challenge for him!!..we hope that you can donate whatever you can so that we can say a huge thank you and make a difference to the lives of the people that are putting their lives on the line for others.

Thank you!!xx
