Story
The Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum is currently located at 518 Sauchiehall Street – definitely, the “wrong end” of Sauchiehall Street for passing trade!
Also, although a Charles Rennie Mackintosh building, actually three connected buildings (a bit of a Tardis!), it was designed and purpose-built in 1903 as a studio for the photographers and documentary-pioneers, Thomas Annan & Sons, so does not lend itself to a Museum easily.
So, the Museum has to move to remain sustainable for future generations.
We have found a future home in the Kelvin Hall development and will hope to move during the next few years – so, we are fund raising for the new Museum and the move – beginning with a sponsored walk for all the Regimental Family – we are Walking the Walk in Great Cumbrae, beginning and ending in Millport on Sat 11 Aug 18.
Please give generously to support the only military museum in the West of Scotland, which tells 340 years of history of the soldiers of Ayrshire and Glasgow – how ordinary people did and do extraordinary things!
