I'm raising £500 to Support Swansea Bay Neonatal Units NICU Community Fund

Story

At Swansea Bay’s Neonatal Unit, our NICU Community Fund plays a vital role in supporting families as their babies transition from hospital to home. The fund allows us to purchase essential equipment used for babies who are ready to leave the NICU but still require close monitoring — for example, home oxygen saturation monitors that help families and staff safely oversee a baby’s oxygen levels after discharge. This support often enables babies to go home earlier, where they can continue to grow and recover in a familiar, comfortable environment.

Beyond medical needs, the fund also helps us nurture a strong and supportive NICU community. Each year we host a Christmas party for our NICU families — a warm and joyful opportunity for parents to reconnect, share experiences, and celebrate together. Santa attends every year, bringing a special gift for each of the babies we have cared for.

Through both practical support and community connection, the NICU Community Fund helps make the journey home smoother and ensures that families feel supported long after leaving the neonatal unit.

NICU strive to make the experience a little less daunting, and help our tiniest patients go home safely and sooner.
