Story
This year has had a devastating effect on the nation’s mental health. People have been pushed away from their friends and loved ones, becoming further isolated by the restrictions of Covid-19 alongside growing tensions on different sides of the political spectrum. In these times more and more people suffering from poor mental health have been left feeling like they have nowhere to go and no one to turn to. It is my goal to set out and prove that this isn’t the case. I want to prove that we still stand together, that we are still here to support each other. Sometimes 'its OK not to be OK' and that it is okay to ask for help.
To do this I will be embarking on a journey from Lands End to John O Groats, walking the entire length of this country and I am asking for your help to get me through. You can show your support in many ways; firstly by offering sponsorship/donations. Initially money raised will be used to provide equipment and resources needed for this mission to go ahead and subsequent money will be donated to a charity doing fantastic work for mental health, the Samaritans.
Secondly by offering shelter/food along my journey. I won’t be needing much, but if you can offer a meal or a bed this will reduce the amount of money required for this project and ultimately leave more to be donated at the end.
And finally by joining me for as much or as little of this journey as you like. We will, of course, maintain a safe distance. But I’d welcome anyone and everyone to join me, to talk about their own experiences of this year and to prove that we are not alone. Let us show anyone in need that the support is there if you need it. All you have to do is ask.

3 years agoNew boots need wearing in!! A good practice walk with Kate, friend and project manager of Walk N Talk, from Abbotts Ann to Stockbridge along part of the Test Way gave said boots a bit of a warm up. The weather was beautiful and as is becoming a habit of ours, Kate and I are drawn to logs... Great to sit on for lunch, admire asthetically or self indulgently pose on for 'great boots, will do me well and lets get walking....

3 years agoToday I was going to start walking from Lands End to John O Groats. Due to the restrictions brought about by the pandemic team Walk N Talk thought it would be best to delay my departure. Disappointed, we had build up momentum for getting out there promoting the importance of walking and talking, I felt that things would go off the boil and we might not get back on track. Then realised we have a campaign that's growing steadily, and a very supportive team who believe in the campaign as much as I do and you my supporters. Thanks :)

3 years agoI would just like to thank Kate Marsh, Tess Biggs and SJ Radford. Your wonderful donations will allow me to buy a pair of walking boots. Now I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. If you'd like to help sponsor my walk from Lands End to John O' Groats in support of mental health please donate now.

As a Mental Health First Aid instructor and having had my own mental health issues I realise that talking about mental health has never been as important as now. I want to reach out and say "In these uncertain times it is OK not to be OK sometimes and it is good to talk."
