Story
In memory of Judi Figgures
Judi was a larger than life character who enriched the lives of everyone who met her. She championed the cause of disability in Sport and in the Hinchingbrooke and Huntingdon communities with great success. Within the sport of sailing she could be seen sailing at Grafham Water every week. As an accomplished yachtswoman she travelled the world to compete in international sailing competitions, inspiring other disabled people to do the same. Within the local community, she successfully applied for funding to buy 2 electric cross country buggies for Hinchingbrooke Country Park. The buggies are still in use today allowing people who are less mobile to ride around the country park and enjoy the wildlife, lakes, trees and wildflowers as well as the company of the multitude of dog walkers and fellow strollers. To commemorate her life we are raising funds to purchase a park bench bearing Judi's name to allow park users to rest and enjoy the park environment, something Judi was passionate about. For all those who knew and loved Judi, this is an opportunity to give to the community, something we believe Judi would have approved of.

6 years agoI have finally identified a heavy duty park bench (Pic below) at a really good price which, including an inscription, falls within the amount we raised. So I now need suggestions for an inscription. My suggestion: I recall driving Judi to the Park in her van whilst she listened to the song 'Windmill in old Amsterdam (I saw a mouse).' She never failed to laugh out loud during the song, it was so innocent and loving. So 'In loving memory of Judi Figgures - she saw a little mouse with clogs on' Please respond with your suggestions. Thank you.
