Story
Today Ella turned one. A wonderful milestone for a baba but sorrow still follows for the family as they celebrate and remember Angela in so many ways this week. So much love has been shown for the Smith/Crawley family over the last plus 100 days and we are so grateful. I never thought this would turn out to be over 100 days or that so much would be raised. Thank you everyone. Ella will soon come to know and understand how much her mother was loved and how much she too was loved.
A second update on Angela and Ella
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I have to say Angela passed away on Thursday evening. She was a courageous, brave and adventurous young girl, mother, wife, daughter and sister who unfortunately lost her battle to cancer. Words cannot express how much she will be missed and how much she touched the hearts of so many people.
The support from other runners, the generous donations and the kind and beautiful words have been overwhelming. I had started this page to help give something to Ella and now what she has is forever appreciated by myself and the family.
Please keep running and please keep thinking about Angela and Ella, Tom and The Crawley family.
Thank you.
An update on Angela and Ella from the family
Just before Christmas I received some terrible news from a old childhood friend. She told me her younger sister was very sick. This broke my heart - not only for all the childhood memories I hold dear with her and her family but also for the fact that she had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl - Ella.
Angela has been fighting a hard battle against brain cancer for the last 9 months. She discovered this when she was pregnant. The news has never got any better and her battle against this cruel disease is coming to an end.
Angela is comfortable in a hospice surrounded by her amazing family, her loving husband Tom, her beautiful daughter Ella, her wonderful sisters Gillian and Jennifer, her strong parents Kevin and Wendy and her fabulous nieces and nephew. Last week she was able to celebrate her 39th birthday surrounded by love, strength, laughter and sushi - her favourite.
From this heartbreaking news I wanted to try and raise some money for her family - mainly Ella.
I decided to do run 5k a day for a month. Her sister, Gillian, joined me as well and before we knew it we had runners all over the globe - Switzerland, Italy, Germany, England and Barbados.
Unfortunately Ella will never have the opportunity to talk to or grow up with her beautiful mummy but with all this amazing support and donations, Ella will soon understand how loved, how adored, how amazing and how adventurous her mummy truly was.
The family and I ask you to keep running for Angela, to keep spreading the news of her illness and to keep raising the roof for Ella's future so Ella can experience all the adventures her mummy did.
