Story

Sharon and Julia can't wait to visit Nepal on May 23rd for 10 days, we are spending time in Katmandu and then trekking to Thankpalkot1 a remote village that was devastated by the earthquakes in 2015.

The organiser Paul Campbell set up the Campbells Foundation to help rebuild a 'house at a time'.

We would like to help the foundation raise more funds to rebuild a family's home. (We would like to stress that all money raised will go towards the family's house as we have paid for my own trip, flights etc!).

We are looking forward to visiting the local school and meeting the families that the foundation have helped so far and those that are still waiting for a house.

Would you be prepared to help us and donate towards a Nepalese family home? It's easy enough, just click on the donate button and give as much as you think is fair.

These families have been desperately struggling with these living conditions since April 2015.

You can read and watch more about it here... Story So Far?

Nepal had two earthquakes in April 2015. The first with a magnitude of 7.8Mw happened at 11.56 on Saturday 25th April when fortunately most people were out. Unfortunately, there were a few older people and young children at home.

Many people died along with their animals and stored crops.

A second earthquake came a day later and just about finished the rest of the buildings off. Thangpalkot1 was cut off for weeks from the rest of the world along with all the other villages in this district.

The district of Sindapulchowk has received very little assistance from their own government as they are so far away from Kathmandu – in many people's opinions, they have very much been forgotten.

The Campbells Foundation went to Thangpalkot1 by chance in December 2015 and spent Christmas there where they experienced the devastation the earthquakes had caused and watched the first home being rebuilt.

Since then the Foundation's team have been back many times to re-build more homes and provide extra resources for the local school too.

It only costs £1800 to purchase and transport enough materials to get one home built. The villagers fund their own labour, create their own hard core and get sand from the river.

Please do help us reach our goal of raising enough money to rebuilt another home.

Thank you. Julia & Sharon
