I am sixty eight, going on sixty nine, a retired teacher with a wife, three adult offspring and a Newfoundland dog. Having been kicked out of our rented home, my wife, my youngest son, his wife and one year old child and our dog, Sir Galahad, are currently living with my mother in law in East Grinstead England. I am a lifelong would be adventurer. I have cycled and sailed in Europe and lived in Africa. Having not followed a conventional career, I have no savings!

I plan to cycle across the USA in the Spring of next year, heading East to West. My youngest son, who currently weighs over twenty stone has set himself the target of losing weight and coming with me.

This project will take place, but I need as much support and help as I can get. We shall need to meet the costs of:

Flights

Bicycles (possibly sourced in the USA - advice and suggestions, please)

Camera equipment to record the journey

Other equipment (camping gear, clothing, spares,etc -suggestions?)

Insurance

I would also like any advice from those who have already undertaken such a project. ‘ ‘Do’s’ and ‘don’ts’, would help.

I have promised myself that half of any financial contributions will go to the Red Cross.
