Story

On 1 October 2017 I will be running in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish 10k run in Glasgow.

Inspired by the courage and grit of my cousin Marianne Strokosch I began couch-to-10k training on 22 July 2017 with 10 weeks to get into shape for the Great Scottish Run. To honour Marianne’s memory I want to raise money for the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Network UK.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) is a rare and highly fatal form of breast cancer that is not typically discovered by mammogram and often occurs prior to standard breast cancer screening age recommendations.

The IBC Network UK aims to advance the education of the public and health professionals about inflammatory breast cancer, to promote and fund research in the UK for inflammatory breast cancer and to provide advocacy, advice, information and support. They provided valuable support to Marianne and our family.
