Story
Meet Thaiya!!
Thaiya is a small street dog in Thailand. We have visited Thailand many times. This year on our summer holiday we went to the small Thai island of Koh Samui. We fed the street dogs every night but one particular street dog captured our hearts. We named her Thaiya.
She is young and much smaller, less streetwise and more timid and gentle than the other street dogs. Most street dogs in Thailand are tough and quite big and this helps them to survive on the streets but Thaiya is not like this at all. Dogs in Thailand have a very hard life. They have to fend for themselves, they sleep by busy roads and lots of them either starve to death, die from disease, are injured or killed by traffic or are poisoned. 50 000 street dogs in Thailand are poisoned every year.
On our last night in Koh Samui we went to see Thaiya and she came over to us to get some food and looked up at us with her sad helpless eyes and then sat with us letting us stroke her. Walking away from her knowing the fate that awaited her in Thailand killed us both. We both decided from that point we needed to bring her back to the UK to live a life filled with love and care - a life that every animal deserves.
We contacted the rescue place in Samui and they found Thaiya for us. The rescue centre are going to help us to bring her home. This is not a cheap process as you can imagine. She needs to be neutered, vaccinated, blood test to be sent to an EU registered laboratory in Germany, quarantined for 3 months in Thailand, she needs a custom build cage for flying and then a flight to Bangkok where we will meet her and then a long haul flight to the UK. This is estimated to cost around £1500
We both know this is a lot of money and that there are many dogs like Thaiya that need help but we are not willing to abandon her and are determined to help this little girl because we know she will not survive without us.
If you would like to help us to get Thaiya back to the UK this would be massively appreciated.
We need £1500 to get her back but if we manage to raise and more than that any excess money will be given to the animal rescue in Koh Samui to help other animals in need in Thailand.

7 years agoThaiya is now off the streets and has been neutered and vaccinated. We are now waiting for her to have her blood tests and then can start the difficult process of trying to get her home. We are hoping she will be home in December if we raise enough money and manage to sort all the intricates of flying her to the UK. We want to thank you all so so much for your support and generosity. We have been overwhelmed by your kindest and support. Here is a picture of Thaiya taken yesterday at the rescue centre. She looks so sad.
