Story
meet thor my 2 1/2 year old rottweiler. He loves sticks, tennis balls, foot balls and everyone he meets. Hes super friendly and has been a great emotional support for my daughter who has Autism.
The problem is he just wont gain weight. He eats without issue and always seems hungry, since a pup hes had a ‘funny’ tummy, nevwr having a proper bowel movement so i thought he had allergies but after making my way through every hypo allergenic food on the market i took him to the vets. thankfully he was insured and they ran lots if tests - blood tests, barium meal test, X rays, medication ... i was told there is a mass in his gut but they cant determine what is it. One vet told me he had bowel disease, i went for a second opinion to another vet and they gave him steroids (which he took an allergic reaction to) vitamin injections and after soecding £5000 on the insurance gave me no answers just wanted to do yet more tests but the insurance wont fund it.
Ive now taken him to another vet - N Irelands answer to the supervet apparently and they have tried medication for the last 4 months but hes stilll underweight so they need to carry out biopsys but say he may not survive as hes so underweight. ive held off in the hope i can get some weight on him to give him a better chance during surgery.
Hes been on a vet perscribed diet at £90 a bag (lasts less than 2 weeks). he never has a solid bowel movement. he looks as if hes not fed and he has to be walked late at night because of comments made about me not feeding him. Im desperate to find out what is wrong with him.
Please help my skinny boy get the investigations he needs, or the only option is to put him to sleep.
