I've raised £1000 to support exceptional embroidery artisans in India struggling to survive during the lockdown.

We're aiming to raise £1000 for a community of 24 embroiderers and handicrafts men in Mumbai, India who are struggling to survive during the strict lockdown in India and whose livelihoods are threatened due to the devastating economic impact of this epidemic.
My company, Story Designs, has been working with this unit for a year on incredible embroideries and it would be heartbreaking to see livelihoods destroyed. The facility is supporting their 40 workers with aid and food parcels as much as possible but the lockdown has been extended leading to orders being cancelled and the struggle for many unable to return to work and leading a hand to mouth existence is harsh and often tragic.
These highly talented artisans work on "adda" or tambour embroidery and embellishment. It is highly skilled work only done by men that takes years to perfect and is often passed down the generations from father to son. These men are often the sole breadwinners for their families.
£40 provides a food parcel containing all essentials such as rice, pulses, oil, flour, sugar, soap and vegetables to feed a family of six for a month. £1000 would keep 25 families fed for the next month until their work, we hope, resumes. 100% of all donations will go towards parcels of food to support the workers in these extreme conditions.
Head to my Instagram where I will be launching my handmade 100% cotton face masks using Indian block prints and vintage (new and unused) handkerchiefs in exchange for donations. I'm aiming to make 100 and am asking for a suggested donation of £10 but please feel welcome to contribute what you can to this worthy cause.
