Story

In two weeks I will be cycling the Etape Calendonia Race. Cycling 55 miles with 3500 elevation in Perthshire. This is biggest distance I will have ever cycled to date.

I am raising funds for Glenlaw House which is a respite home service dedicated to providing care for up to four children and young people with complex health needs, including physical and sensory impairments as well as profound disabilities. Located on the grounds of Kings Cross Hospital, this vital service allows children to receive care on a respite or short break basis. The house is staffed by skilled paediatric nurses and healthcare professionals who ensure that each child's unique needs are met.

Our daughter has profound and complex needs, requiring high levels of medical support. She is partially sighted, a wheelchair user, and relies on tube feeding for 22 hours each day. This means that she requires continuous nursing care both day and night, which we as a family provide with love and dedication. Since she was just three years old, she has been able to access Glenlaw House. This service has been a lifeline for our family, offering us much-needed breaks from our caregiving responsibilities. It has allowed us to enjoy full nights of sleep and even engage in more adventurous activities that would otherwise be impossible.

My target is to raise £500 to help provide therapeutic opportunities such as music therapy, sensory stories and sensory singing for the children to access when they are staying at Glenlaw House. We would also like to purchase sensory toys for the children. Your contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of families like ours who rely on this incredible resource. Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for considering supporting this important cause.
