Story

Each year a small band of volunteers help to purchase and maintain the Christmas lights and Christmas tree in Annan. As well as that, we also co-ordinate a switch on event for the whole town but in particular, the children.

We rely each year on fundraising and donations to help support the costs. Whilst we do receive a grant towards the erection and dismantling of the lights from Dumfries and Galloway Council everything else is provided by the Annan Christmas lights Committee.

This year, Annan Christmas Lights Switch-on event will be on Saturday 30th November.

●We will be holding three FREE Lantern-making Workshops this year for your kids to create their own Lanterns to take part in our parade.

●As always, Santa will be hosting his FREE Grotto with a gift for every single child.

●There will be FREE facepainting and glitter tattoos for all children.

●We will have FREE entertainment throughout the afternoon on the High Street, plus the donkeys will be visiting again for the children to feed and pet.

●Our fantastic Craft Fayre will be on all afternoon for your festive shopping (Thanks to The Corner House Hotel for hosting us this year!)

●The Lantern Parade will take place just before Switch-on and we welcome individuals and groups to take part. (Let’s see if we can make it bigger and brighter than last year, which was fantastic!)

●Christmas Lights will be switched on by Annan’s Young Citizen of the year.

All of this is only possible thanks to the generous donations given by you and the fantastic local businesses who support us every year.

We understand that times continue to be challenging for us all, but we hope that you are able to make a donation, however small, towards the cost of bringing Christmas cheer to Annan
