Story

There are now FIFTY FOUR orphans & I believe more on the way, on the 9th January on BBC2 you can watch a 3 part series on Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection, you will see why I am passionate about raising money & awareness for them, of course Gaia will be featured in the programme

BREAKING NEWS ~ as soon as I reach £500, a VERY kind person will match it !

Jimmy & Jenny Desmond moved to Liberia to take care of chimpanzees abandoned on an island & left to starve by the New York Blood Center.

Soon after moving to Liberia, news of their arrival & expertise started to spread & the authorities began to confiscate young orphan chimps who had seen their whole families slaughtered for bushmeat & who were now being touted as pet's ~ a trade that is understandably illegal in Liberia.

LCRP have just taken in two more orphans bringing the number to FIFTY in just under four years, in August they also secured their first prosecution, hopefully the first of many !!

Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection has been created by the Desmonds, they have a team of care givers & they have land, now they just need the money to build a sanctuary on that land to enable these little orphans to be cared for, rehabilitated & reintroduced to controlled freedom.

They have been bequeathed $1,000,000 & faze one has started ~ they need another $1,000,000 to complete the project.

If you could sponsor my jump ~ that would be FANTASTIC or if you would prefer to join the jump & raise funds for these little orphan bundles, please follow the link ~ you will be more than welcome !!

Gaia came to LCRP soon after I started following LCRP, tiny & toothless, it was thought there was a possibility she may not make it, she stole my heart as we saw her grow stronger, take her first steps, her first swing in the trees & develop her amazing toothy grin ~ please sponsor or take part in my Jump for Gaia & let's help to give these babies a better future !!
