Hey, just a line as I wanted to tell you all about a project I will be starting very soon.
It is something I have wanted to accomplish for a while now, so I have set myself a cycling challenge and from this I would like to raise some funding . I start the cycle on November 1st and it should end November 10th. I will be Starting off in good old London and completing in chilly Berlin. Ekk!
I felt rather than get the usual Ryanair flight, I should take the long route, get some fresh air, and at the same time try raise some funding for two amazing public service charities, that benefits two very special and unique communities.
The two charities are easy and worthy picks. They are my beloved childhood youth project, the Shy (Sacred Heart Youth) Project in Waterford, Ireland and London Friend LGBTI charity in England.
I have chosen these charities as they provide a much needed service for their respective communities in many different forms, including; developmental groups and programmes, one to one support, counselling etc…
To start, a little about the Shy Project, +353 51 843525 or+353868589871
A lot of us can understand the pressure and stress Trauma/Depression can cause in a person’s life. Maybe at some point you have lived through the hardship of Trauma/Depression yourself. Many might understand or have had the added hassle of substance misuse. I can put my hand up and say I have experience with it, but I have to say I feel pretty lucky and grateful that things have changed positively for me, especially lately.
The possibility from me to have had the energy to reach out to this positive change in feelings is largely owed to the fact that I and many of my childhood peers received continual protection, love, encouragement, education and support through the great youth workers Maggie Flanagan and Christina Fogarty and all the volunteers involved in the Shy Project. Their selfless dedication to the youth of the Sacred Heart community is inspiring and heroic. Unfortunately projects such as the Shy are severely inadequately funded and are always in need of additional support from kind people wherever possible
Next, to London Friend, which I was forced to have a seperate fundraiser page.
London Friend . http://londonfriend.org.uk
London Friend has become important to me as it provides much needed services to the fragile members of our community. London Friend through guidance, supports member to deal with a wide range of harmful social issues such as domestic abuse, LGBTI hate crime and drug and alcohol misuse. They also provide vital counselling and support groups that help to guide willing participants to find comfort, understanding and build their own resilience.
I was unaware of Friend when I probably needed it most. I now know what Friend is all about and I think what it provides for the community is vital. Access to services like these, as we all know, are needed more than ever. Friend has unfortunately run out of counselling funding and now have to charge. I am aiming to raise €5000, if my goal was achieved that could potentially fund 125 free counselling sessions for very vulnerable people.
Good counselling can help a person process and acknowledge their unique positive qualities outside of what they may be going through in school or at home or even in the workplace. This can in the long run create a better community and environment for each generation that follows.
Through your generous sponsorship, we can together, raise funding for a much needed injection into the budget of the Shy and London Friend.
Hopefully we can make a bit of coin to put into the Shy and London Friend and they can continue their good work in affording vulnerable people a much needed relief from the pressure of their circumstance.
Thank you in advance for your support it means the world to me and hopefully will mean the world to the people we can potentially help.
