Story
Here’s our Gorgeous George eager to get home after four days in the animal hospital.
I took George to the vet last week because he was losing weight despite eating well. My initial thought was he was hyperthyroid. I was wrong. Blood tests confirmed that he is diabetic.
He’s on one unit of insulin twice a day, twelve hours apart. He will need to be carefully monitored to make sure his glucose levels are stable. It may take a while to get the dosage right. At the moment George obviously can’t be homed. If he is homed he will need an experienced owner or fosterer who is around all day and is able to give insulin by way of injection.
There’s definitely nothing wrong with his appetite. I just need to keep a very close eye on him.
If you would like to contribute to George’s care, we would be vert grateful. Thank you
