You may have seem some action and activity happening with ASTRO turf and underlay being delivered to the waste land in Castlebay.  Story behind this is the Junior Sports club were approached by CnES 2 weeks ago and were given first offer of free used ASTRO turf which has come from a  3g pitch in Stornoway. (This ASTRO would have been shipped to the mainland otherwise).  There is enough ASTRO to line the old ballcourt beside the pitch and to create a community ASTRO pitch for everyone to use. Junior sports committee agreed to this free donation of ASTRO and had a very tight timeline to get it delivered to Barra as it had to be off the premises in Stornoway within the week. As a club, this is a great opportunity to create a community ASTRO court and will likely be the only improvements in sports facilities this island is likely to see for some time .

We are having to pay all transport costs however of getting the ASTRO turf delivered to Barra and are looking to raise £5000 to help cover transport costs and materials and also  looking for help in laying the ASTRO once  the cage is ready.
