Story

This weekend, 22 members of the Broughton Rugby Club completed the incredibly challenging 100km Jurassic Coast walk in only 2 days, walking from Abbotsbury to Studland. The event involved walking over 50km each day, beginning at 6am and finishing in the early evening with very little stopping time. Conditions were extremely tough with rough terrain, steep inclines and 25 degree heat to name a few. The blisters were rife and the joint pain and fatigue was extreme - but despite all these physical and mental challenges, the men kept pace and the walkers were greeted on Saturday evening in Studland by their families.

We are hugely grateful to all of these walkers and the phenomenal effort they put in. The organisation involved in making such an event possible was monumental and huge thanks goes to all those who made it happen. The meetings, planning, sponsorship, food preparation, kit lists, map routing, transportation arrangements and campsite sorting all took months to assemble. Special thanks must be extended to the Wright family, Clive Redshaw and Lee for forming a fantastic support team during the weekend, ensuring that all men were on track and catered for at the various checkpoints, providing food, water, medical aid and continually boosting morale!

This challenge was all in aid of Broughton Preschool and to raise vital funds to keep it running each year. We have been absolutely blown away by the level of funds raised on this occasion and are immensely grateful to every single person who has generously donated. We are almost at £15k with the original target set at £3k. This is a staggering amount of money and every penny will be well spent to ensure that the Preschool continues to thrive.
