Unfortunately John was in a scenario of wrong place, wrong time after moving to Dubai 18months ago to live with his wife. He made friends with people but had little knowledge of their background and was arrested on February 2nd 2017. He has been held since then without trial. John was due to start his dream job in Qatar just weeks after his detention. He is now currently being detained in a prison in Abu Dhabi and has limited access to running water, exercise or natural light. He also has no mattress, John is allowed very little contact with us. Under UAE law John is entitled to legal representation however the case has been adjourned 4 times as no lawyer was present.

We have received a list of lawyers from Reprieve and it will cost between £12,000 and £30,000 to instruct someone. With your help we can hopefully meet these costs and get John home as quick as possible. Money donated will also be going towards toiletries and phone cards as the prices are very expensive to call the UK.
