Story
It is great to be parents, to share those moments’ together, joy and love. These little people fulfil our lives. When they are tiny we dream and try to visualize their futures and plan what we will do. We too had these dream: When Layla was born it was the most precious moment of our lives. That was the perfect picture until our dream was taken away. When Layla was 18 months old everything changed. We felt that something was wrong; she moved away from us, she stopped talking, stopped looking at us, she didn’t want to be touched and started to hurt herself. When she was 2 years, 9 months she was diagnosed with ‘autism’. All we heard from specialists was her future would not fulfil our hopes and dreams. There was nothing positive. Our dreams and plans fell apart. It was heart-breaking to see Layla moving further and further from us. For the past 7 years we have followed the specialists’ advice to eliminate‘unwanted’behaviour, but instead of getting better, Layla became more upset and frustrated. For 4 years Layla has been in a mainstream school but made very little progress, and they are no longer able to meet her needs. As they also cannot assess her, a special school could not make the right provision.
We have decided on a different approach; to take our daughter ‘out of school’ and run an intensive Son-Rise Program®. Instead of trying to force Layla to conform to a world that she doesn't yet understand, we will join her in her world first. The Son-Rise Program is opposite to everything we have been told to do. This is the best chance for her to be able to learn to speak, experience real happiness and love, have deep, caring relationships, close friends and live her life. Layla will show us the way in, and we will show her the way out. What I need from you is a little help. Please donate whatever you can, to make a real difference.
